Festival of the Nations – Undoubtedly the most culturally unique experience in Sevier County, Festival of the Nations has been opening Dollywood for years and will likely continue to do so for years to come. The booths and theatres all transform to accommodate talents from Ireland, South America, Asia, Africa, Russia and many other places from around the globe.

Barbeque and Bluegrass – Now that the kids are taken care of, its time for the grown-ups to have a festival to call their own. The title leaves little to the imagination as to what Dollywood offers in September, Barbeque and Bluegrass and lots of it. Big names in both categories arrive to perform in Dollywood’s main square, with free concerts from Ricky Skaggs, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, and the Del McCoury band. And forget the food either. Professional chefs will compete at the Sizzlin’ Chef Showdown to see who can top who, but even if you miss that, there’s still a mountain of slow-cooked ribs and pork and chicken that you can enjoy.

National Gospel and Harvest Celebration – Life moves forward in the Smoky Mountains 11/12ths of the year, but during October we take several steps back and take a look where we came from. To celebrate the mountains and the culture, Dollywood invites a month’s worth of Gospel entertainment to play in the theaters while the most talented artisans in the country set up shop all over the park. With the cool air over a backdrop of orange and red mountains, this could be the most magical part of the year before Christmas, so be sure to stop by once you’re in town.

Smoky Mountain Christmas – Now we come to the most magical part of the year for people of all ages and Dollywood does its best to help celebrate it with old favorites like Babes in Toyland and Christmas in the Smokies. Then there’s The Polar Express 4D Experience, Christmas with the Kingdom Heirs, Victorian Melodies, Appalachian Christmas and still more. Between all those sets you and the kids can find year-round fun with the Roller Coaster Rides, the County Fair, The Train, The Craftsman’s Valley, The Water Rides (well, not year round, its not fun to get wet when its cold), the shops, and the restaurants, there’s even an old fashioned 50’s era area.

Green Valley Motel is also within walking distance to Dolly’s Dixie Stampede, a dinner and show theater with musical and comedy talent, plus live animals and dancing. There is a 50-minute opening show before the main event. The Dinners consist of whole Rotisserie Chickens, Barbecued Pork Loin, Corn on the Cob, Homemade Biscuit, Vegetable Soup, Vegetable Pasta just to start. Check their web site at www.dixiestampede.com for vacation packages.

And then, not far up the road is a Municipal Golf Course. This recently renovated 18 hole golf course also features a fully equipped pro shop and food service area.
